Alexandra Warrick

Post-Secondary Navigator & Executive Functioning Specialist

Alex brings a unique and powerful combination of educational expertise, business insight, and student-centred counselling experience to her role as an Executive Functioning Specialist and Post-Secondary Navigator at TheParentAdvocate. She holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto, along with multiple Additional Qualifications, including Guidance (Parts 1 & 2), Special Education Specialist, Cooperative Education, and Honours Specialist in Business Studies. Earlier in her career, Alex earned a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University with a focus on the Psychology of Business and Organizational Behaviour, providing her with a strong foundation in human motivation, decision-making, and organizational skills that directly inform her coaching practice. Her professional training also includes her Executive Functioning Coaching Certification, Grief Counselling Certification, National School Reform Faculty facilitation training, and certification as a GoZen Workshop Facilitator focusing on resilience, growth mindset, and emotional regulation.

With almost two decades of experience working with adolescents and families, Alex has developed deep expertise in supporting students across academic planning, social-emotional well-being, and post-secondary pathways. Most recently, she served as a Well-Being Counsellor and Student Services Counsellor at The Bishop Strachan School, where she provided individual counselling, executive functioning support, academic/course advising, and university planning to students in Grades 9–12 while also designing school-wide social-emotional learning initiatives and delivering workshops for parents and educators. Earlier roles as a Guidance Counsellor and Special Education leader within the Toronto District School Board further strengthened her skills in course planning, university preparation, IEP development, transition planning, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. This breadth of experience allows Alex to view each student through a holistic lens that integrates academic goals, personal strengths, and well-being.

When she isn't working with students and families, Alex spends her summers travelling with her husband and two children and swapping city life for summer camp style, where she spends her time as the Mental Health Support Person for staff members at Camp Arowhon. Although, when Algonquin Park is your office and a paddleboard is your desk, it hardly feels like work.

Alex is known for her warm, approachable style and her commitment to building trusting relationships with both students and families. She believes that meaningful progress happens when young people feel understood, supported, and empowered, and she works collaboratively to develop practical strategies that align with each learner’s strengths and goals. Combining a big-picture perspective with careful attention to detail, Alex helps students navigate complex educational decisions while fostering confidence, independence, and resilience. Her goal is always to ensure that every client feels supported not only in the moment but also in building the skills needed for long-term success.
